product description
Ammonia nitrogen in water refers to ammonia that exists in the form of free ammonia, mainly derived from the decomposition products of nitrogen-containing organic matter in domestic sewage by microbial action, industrial wastewater such as coking synthetic ammonia, and agricultural drainage. When the ammonia nitrogen content in water is high, it exhibits toxic effects on fish and poses varying degrees of harm to humans. Measuring the ammonia nitrogen content in water helps evaluate the pollution and "self purification" status of water bodies, therefore ammonia nitrogen is an important indicator for characterizing water quality pollution.
Basic principles
After mixing the water sample and masking agent, the ammonia nitrogen formed as free ammonia or ammonium ions reacts with salicylic acid colorimetric reagent in an alkaline environment and in the presence of sensitizers to generate a colored complex. The analyzer detects the color change and converts it into ammonia nitrogen value output. The amount of colored complex generated is equivalent to the ammonia content.
